Lazio midfielder Marco Parolo says that 2014 has been a great year for him and that he would like to continue scoring more goals for the Italian outfit.Parolo’s superior from in front of goal has been a major reason behind Lazio finishing third during the winter break.

The 29-year-old has not been a renowned goal scorer, but he managed to get eight goals and six assists for Parma last season. He is yet to reproduce this form for Lazio, butParolo is confident of doing so in the coming months.Parolo has scored two goals in 15 appearances for the Italian Serie A club.

Parolo says that Lazio could have been in an even better position had they got more points from the opening matches of the campaign. Lazio managed only one win in the opening four matches of the season and this run also included three defeats. The key players for the club this campaign, apart fromParolo, have been striker Miroslav Klose and Dordevic. The latter has been able to get six goals in 16 appearances, while midfielderMauri has also contributed the same number of goals from 11 matches. Klose has not been able to reproduce his scoring form at the World Cup 2014, but he is a regular starter nonetheless.

“2014 was a special year for me. I had a good season with Parma, gave birth to my son Dante although the World Cup was pretty unpleasant. We want to reach Europe and personally I would like to score more. We have an offensive mentality and the Champions League would be a great achievement. The regret was the first four games where we threw away a lot. However, we can have a great 2015.The Rome Derby? There is great desire to play in it and I cannot wait for it,” said Parolo.
