Lazio Linked With Move For Allegri

Lazio have been linked with a move for former AC Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri after reportedly being unhappy with their current coach Edoardo Reja. Despite excellent form towards the end of the season, the club once again failed to qualify for the Champions League. This coupled with the irresistible form of their arch rivals has not been good for its manager. Lazio came nowhere near enough the top six positions, which would have given them at least Europa league football. As a result, it is highly speculated that Reja would lose his job before the start of the new campaign.

Allegri has been mentioned as a surprise candidate for the job after having been relieved of his duties at Milan only a few months ago. However, he was last manager to lead AC Milan to a league title. This coupled with the fact that he kept the club in the Champions League despite huge budget cuts has certainly made him a favourable option for clubs in and around the Champions League places. Lazio are one of them and they are looking to hire Allegri. The former Milan manager, though, has dismissed those rumours by saying that he has not decided on his future yet.

"The link to Lazio? I have not made any decisions and I have not spoken to anyone. For my future there will is time to consider what will be best for me. I am living in the present and following the World Cup as an ordinary person. An experience abroad? The world has globalised and I will have to evaluate this possibility. I will assess and decide,” said the former Milan manager. At the end of the campaign, Lazio finished in a disappointing ninth place and they could only win two of their last five matches.
