A shocking report has revealed that Lazio have had only 11 season tickets renewed for the upcoming 2016-17 season.

This dismal number comes as a major shock even to those who are regular supporters of the club. There has been going disgruntlement amongst supporters after one of the worst seasons in the club’s history. The club enjoyed Champions League football in the 2015-16 season as a result of doing well in the 2014-15 campaign. However, they failed to build on this success and ended up finishing eighth in the table last season.

This may not be a huge issue at any other club, but Lazio fans are extremely demanding and Roma doing well during the same time has only increased to the passion amongst supporters. The club recently brought in Simone Inzaghi has their new coach and he pledged to bring back the enthusiasm amongst supporters ahead of the new season. The poor support has only been heightened by manager Marcelo Bielsa shockingly leaving his job just two days after being appointed as the manager in the summer. Inzaghi was not the first option to receive the job. He has already been seen as a backup option as Lazio failed to retain Bielsa.

Inzaghi will be able to change this perception only with some good results starting with the pre-season friendlies.“I want to give particular thanks to the fans, who over the last 10 days – despite all that happened last year – helped us to work well.You never let us lack for warmth and affection. We hope to bring back enthusiasm,” said Inzaghi. Due to the poor number of turnouts for season-ticket renewals, Lazio have stopped announcing any details about the availability. Hence, exact numbers about the tickets sold by the club remain unclear as of now, but they are understood to be very low.
