Ciro Immobile would run to Napoli - Agent

The representative of Ciro Immobile has suggested that the 27-year-old would have run to Napoli, had the Serie A leaders approached for his signature earlier in his career. The Italy international returned to the Serie A during the summer of 2016 following an average spell with Borussia Dortmund where he managed just 10 goals in 34 appearances across all competitions.

In a report covered by Football Italia, agent Marco Sommella said that Immobile would have accepted a move to Napoli with both hands, if they had enquired for his services while at Dortmund. However, he does not believe his client will pursue a fresh challenge in the summer, should Lazio achieve their objectives for the season.

He said: "I don’t know if Napoli will knock on Lazio’s door this summer but I don’t think the Biancocelesti would decide to sell him if they reach their ambitious objectives. It would have been good for Napoli to have a player like Ciro right now, with 22-25 goals he’d provide a big help. In the two years he was abroad he would have run to Napoli, but it always takes two to make a marriage."

Since joining Lazio in the summer of 2016, Immobile has been in stunning form for the Rome outfit, contributing 52 goals in just 68 matches across all competitions. He has directly contributed to 27 of his club's 58 league goals this term, scoring 20 and assisting seven, and that's a better contribution than any other play in the Italian top-flight.

Only seven players have scored 10 or more goals in the Serie A this campaign, and Inter Milan skipper Mauro Icardi happens to be the only player, who has a better shot accuracy than the former Torino man. The Argentine has been on target with 68 per cent of his shots whilst Immobile is at an accuracy of 62 per cent.
