Simone Inzaghi doing Appreciable Job at Lazio

Simone Inzaghi has been doing a fine job as the caretaker manager at Lazio so much so that Antonio Candreva wants the 40-year-old to be appointed on a permanent basis.

However, it is looking unlikely to happen since the club’s sporting director Igli Tare has already announced that there will be major shakeup at the club in the summer; he confirmed that this will involve the playing staff and the coaching staff. Midfielder Candreva was speaking after Lazio had just achieved a remarkable win over Inter Milan to keep the momentum in the last few weeks.

Lazio have suffered only three defeats in the last seven games and this form has seen them get some respectability in terms of league positioning. They have rose to eighth in the table following the good run. The win over Inter Milan has helped Lazio bring an end to the run of back-to-back defeats in the league. Prior to the victory, losses against Sampdoria and Juventus threatened to disrupt the good form achieved under Inzaghi. Even though there is still a glimmer of hope that they can finish in the Europa league places, it is unlikely to be feasible with very few games remaining in the league.

It has been a hugely disappointing season for Lazio, as they finished third in the league last season and have failed to build on the success. "The coach has got all the ideas and what you see us do on the field comes from him. He deserves to have a great future. It's not up to me to decide, but I hope he stays at Lazio because he really deserves it," said Candreva. "The last times I was sent off in my playing career it was always Banti [the referee]. I think my conduct was correct," said Inzaghi after being sent off to the stands.
