Lazio manager Edy Reja says that it is very difficult for him to see the club supporters by boycotting the team and presenting an empty Stadio Olimpico for recently match. The president Claudio Lotito has been the reason for the club’s supporters protesting by not attending to matches.
They reportedly want Lotito to leave the club. However, Reja says that it is very difficult for him and the team to see an empty stadium, which is known for its atmosphere. The club are comfortable in the mid-table, but the success of Roma this campaign has stirred up the rivalry once again.
Lazio fans want to spend huge amounts of money in order to bring success back to the club, but Lotito has been very prudent in running the club as a business. This is thought to be the primary reason behind the clashes. Ahead of the match with Atalanta, the club manager has revealed that only 2000 tickets have been sold for this home match. He says that he cannot argue with the criticism of the supporters, but they should be supporting the team from close by and not far away. He says it’s a tough match against Atalanta, as Lazio face a fight to get into the top six of the table.
“It’s a great shame to hear only 2,000 tickets have been sold. Having our fans close to us is almost indispensible, so to see the Olimpico so empty hurts my heart. The team does not have the home advantage if the crowd isn’t there. We need common sense from everyone involves and I hope people can get back to participating in Lazio’s campaign. Criticism is the spice of this sport, but we need the fans close to this team,” said Reja ahead of the match. Lazio are undefeated in the last three matches.
