Lazio midfielder Mauro Zarate has said that he does not want to leave the Italian club and is extremely happy to stay at Lazio, despite rumours linking him with a move abroad, and a swap deal for Juan Mata. The Argentine midfielder is regarded as one of the hottest properties in the world football.
He was on loan at Inter Milan last season after falling out with the Lazio manager Edy Reja. However, since the sacking of Edy Reja took place only last season, it is expected that Mauro Zarate will once again be retained by the club this season. Due to the sacking of the former manager, Mauro Zarate has also expressed his delight.
The 25-year-old is on a big contract that is supposedly making him the highest earner at the club. Hence, it will take a lot of effort to sell the player. Arsenal, Manchester city and AC Milan have been linked with the player for quite some time now. It was also thought that Inter Milan will be interested in making the loan move permanent, but after failing to finish in the Champions League, they have decided to not sign the player who will cost around £ 30 million. As a result, it looks like Mauro Zarate's future will be with Lazio.
"I will stay at Lazio 100 per cent and repay the love of the fans on the field. Would I spread my wage over more years, though? My contract will stay as it is," said the players after confirming that he has committed to the Italian club. Due to the high salary of the player, it is also thought that the club are looking to re-negotiate a new deal with the player. It is simply very difficult for the club to carry on paying his wages due to the lack of revenue.
