The Lazio sporting director Igli Tare has said that the club attempted to bring the former defender Alessandro Nesta back to the club after the defender was released by AC Milan.

The Italian defender is regarded as one of the finest defenders in the world. He recently revealed that he would be leaving AC Milan after the end of his current contract. It is thought that the club did not want to extend his contract due to the injury concerns.

Further, the club was also looking to bring down the age of the squad. The defender is currently in talks with the MLS club Monreal impact and the deal is expected to be reached soon.

Lazio sporting director Igli Tare has said that the club try to sign Alessandro Nesta before the approach of the MLS club, but ultimately failed in their approach because the player wanted a new challenge in his career. At his peak, Nesta was probably one of the best defenders in the world.

He helped AC Milan win a number of trophies including the Champions League titles. Alessandro Nesta is widely regarded as one of the best players to come out of the Lazio youth academy. He went on to represent the club for nine years before moving to AC Milan.

“Last year we tried to convince Alessandro Nesta to return to Lazio, but for family reasons he chose not to accept, because he wanted to continue living in Milan. I have heard that Lazio rejected the possibility of ever taking back Nesta, but this is not true. All people who are a part of Lazio’s history are always welcome. Unfortunately, there wasn’t the possibility and we had to accept the situation as it was,” said the sporting director of Lazio Igli Tare regarding his failed attempt to bring Nesta.
