Lazio is a possible football destination for Mario Balotelli but a big risk

You are here

Mario Balotelli continues to disappoint as his career in Anfield has been underwhelming ever since he joined the Premier League club back in August of 2014.

The Italian attacker is considered to be one of the most talented players in the world of football but the 24 year old player has not lived up to the expectations of his fans and the media.

In the first season of Mario Balotelli as a player of Liverpool, he managed to make 16 appearances and scored once and for a transfer fee of €16 million, Balotelli has turned into one of the worst signings in the history of Liverpool.

Brendan Rodgers is now looking to offload Balotelli and try to recoup some of the money that was spend in bringing him to Anfield.

For the past few weeks, Balotelli has been linked to a number of clubs including: Bologna, Sampdoria, Fiorentina and Lazio. Rodgers wants to offload Balotelli to any club as long as he receives at least a small percentage back of Balotelli’s €16 million transfer fee.

The problem that Liverpool has is the fact that managers, clubs and just about everyone have lost their faith in Balotelli as the player has continuously been disappointing.

Stefano Pioli is the manager of Lazio and the Italian side is one of the latest clubs to be rumored in making a move for Balotelli but signing a player who is going through such a mediocre state is something that Stefano Pioli will certainly not do, especially after having sealed the 3rd spot of the Serie A, Pioli only wants to sign and have at his disposal the players that he can trust and Mario Balotelli has failed to do that in any of his previous clubs including: Liverpool, Ac.Milan and Manchester City.

If Brendan Rodgers decides to offload Balotelli at a low price or possibly even free then Stefano Pioli might take a risk in signing him but it still seems unrealistic from happening.

Back in July, Stefano Pioli extended his contract for 1 more year with Lazio after having reached the 3rd spot of the Italian League and if things continue going on as impressively, he will probably expand his deal with Lazio even further but signing Balotelli is a huge gamble.
