Brazilian midfielder Hernanes has been one of the important players for Lazio this season. It has so far been a great campaign for Lazio, as they managed to stay close to the Champions League places for most of the campaign.
Even though they are now set to miss out on the elite competition, there are several reasons to be happy about the campaign. Hernanes is one of them, but the Brazilian is already being linked with several clubs across Europe after his impressive performances. Lazio sporting director Igli Tare, though, has confirmed that the player is not for sale.
This has been reiterated by the club chairman Claudio Lotito on several occasions. Hernanes has not only been brilliant for Lazio, but he has also made incredible strides at the national team level as well. The 27-year-old has made 34 appearances for Lazio in the league and he has 11 goals for his name. The club now seem on course to finishing sixth in the league, which would be a great achievement given the financial resources at the disposal of manager Petković. The club, though, will be hoping that Udinese dropped points in the final game of the season, thus allowing them to leapfrog into the fifth place.
"Will Hernanes stay? He's a staple part of the team. There are no ongoing negotiations or requests on his part. The president clearly spoke of what the will of the club is, we do not have to answer 'yes' or 'no'. He does not move from here. Lotito was clear," said the club's sporting director. Lazio are expected to improve on their performances even more next season if the Brazilian midfielder stays at the club. Lazio are expected to be on par with Napoli, who could lose their influential manager Walter Mazzarri in the summer.
